BMW Assistant Service Manager

Stephen James Enfield is looking for a BMW Assistant Service Manager.

Your role

As the Assistant Service Manager (Back of House), reporting to the Service Manager, you will ensure that the Workshop provides the best possible service levels to all customers both internally and externally by meeting both all standards set by the business and ensuring effective communication across the teams. 

You will have responsibility for organising and controlling the activities of the Service Technicians and Apprentices to meet agreed KPIs. You will ensure you have in place a clearly defined stock, debt, and quality control process to maximise opportunities and efficiencies to achieve plans and budgets. 

The main duties of the role include:

  • Managing back of house staff and workshop technicians, ensuring communication and cooperation
  • Instruct technicians concerning repair procedures and provide support when required
  • Increase work productivity to a minimum standard of 85%
  • Carry out all quality control checks in accordance with BMW UK and Stephen James standards
  • Responsible for Health & Safety on-line assessments and daily ramp checks
  • Liaise with the manufacturer and warranty department to advise technicians whether work is retail or warranty
  • Approve work order and ensure times allotted are not exceeded and that additional work is authorised and recorded accurately
  • Complete monthly 121 Performance Evaluations
  • Support STM negotiations with customer and the selling of additional service work whilst their car is in our care
  • Ensure that all service, warranty, and repair works are carried out to the highest standard
  • Conduct meetings with Workshop Team to motivate the team, encourage performance improvement and communicate necessary information and daily schedules

Your profile

  • Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience in a service or workshop managerial role in the automotive industry.
  • Ideally you will have technical background as either a workshop manager/controller or will have worked as technician and have knowledge of manufacturer processes
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate credibly with our customers, colleagues, and senior management
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy workshop environment
  • Proven influencing skills and good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to develop rapport and trust with customers and to resolve conflict situations calmly and reasonably
  • Customer service orientated, professional and well presented
  • To have strong IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft office
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and have a full valid, clean, (manual) UK Driving Licence

Salary and Hours

Basic salary £37,500 with an OTE of £50,000 per annum, with Company car

Working hours, Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 6.00pm
