Management Accountant

Vines of Guildford is looking for a Management Accountant.

Your role

As the Management Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our Guildford dealership's (BMW, MINI, Motorrad, and Vines Select) financial health by providing accurate financial analysis, managing budgets, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. Working closely with the Head of Business, the ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and excellent analytical skills.

What you'll be doing:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled
  • Advisory: Advise Departmental Managers on financial performance, margins, costs, and overheads, comparing actual results to the budget
  • Commentary: Provide commentary on the management accounts and support non-financial managers in understanding the accounts
  • Submissions: Submit monthly accounts information to BMW
  • Budgeting: Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for various departments within the dealership
  • Forecasting: Provide financial forecasting and variance analysis to support business planning.
  • Cost Control: Analyse and control operational costs to maximise profitability
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct financial performance analysis, highlighting key metrics and trends
  • Cash Cycle: Support the Financial controller to ensure an optimum cash operating cycle by careful control of creditors, debtors, and stock
  • Collaboration: Work closely with department managers to provide financial insights and support
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to processes and practices where possible

The salary is up to £60,000 per annum with an OTE of £70,000 dependent on the level of experience plus a company car

Hours: 37.50 hours per week Monday - Friday

Location: You will be based in Guildford, Surrey with travel required to our site in Crawley, West Sussex once a week

Your profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience in the motor trade
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in management accounting, ideally within the automotive industry
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience of Keyloop (Kerridge) DMS system will be an advantage
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
